Welcome Letter
Aloha nui,
I hope this website helps you get to know West Maui Counseling Center. Every person who walks through our doors is treated with compassion, respect, and empathy. Our community deserves nothing less. I believe that people can get better, if given the right tools and support.
When I first arrived on Maui, I lived in and served the people of Hana and will be forever grateful to the Hana community for welcoming me to the island in 2008. Now, I am proud to call West Maui home and have a passion for serving and promoting the mental health of our community. When I first joined the West Maui community, I was surprised to learn that residents had to commute to Central Maui to be seen by a Psychologist. This didn’t seem fair to the hard working residents of the West Side, and my vision for West Maui Counseling Center was born.
When I founded West Maui Counseling Center in 2011, I had no idea it would take me only 2 years to make my vision a reality and expand into the center we have today. I now have the privilege of leading a group of dedicated and ethical colleagues who are committed to providing the highest standard of quality integrated mental and medical health care to our Maui community through our Treatment Team approach. With the expansion to a bigger, totally renovated, ADA accessible office space in 2013 our community has even better options regarding their mental health care.
WMCC has multiple clinicians with different areas of speciality who were educated at some of the finest academic institutions in the country. Each therapist has gone through a rigorous application process as I only invite the best of the best in their respective specialties to join my team. I am continuing to recruit top notch professionals to join the practice and develop new programs and services to meet the needs of our West Maui community. However, what makes WMCC special and different from other practices is that quality will always trump quantity for me as the practice director, and only those with robust training and education and similar professional values will be invited to join the practice.
My mission is to provide a safe, comfortable, confidential, and professional place that the community can count on for the medical and mental health services they need with the assurance of privacy and clinical excellence. WMCC is a special place where all are welcome and every patient is important. I am devoted to raising the bar of the standard of mental health care on Maui, improving access to care, and providing quality training to the future generation of professionals who will serve our community for years to come.
I believe that ultimately, the benefit you receive from psychotherapy and counseling is directly related to your level of comfort, connection, and relationship you build with your clinician. I am committed to helping all of our patients receive the services they need and I am happy to discuss your individual circumstance to determine who is the best provider for you. Please explore this website to learn more and don’t hesitate to contact me or visit our FAQ page if you have any questions.
